MUSCAT: Oman may decide on introducing Covid-19 negative certificate for travellers coming to the country later, a top Ministry of Health official said on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Saif Al Abri, Director General of Disease Surveillance and Control at MOH said a decision on implementing coronavirus negative certificate will be taken later. “The Sultanate will decide later on the issue of whether travellers coming to the Sultanate should obtain a disease free certificate or not,” he said.
According to him, a number of private hospitals and laboratories approved by the MOH conduct PCR test and GeneExpert tests “but it is not their responsibility to issue the disease free certificate,” he added.

Meanwhile, a unified plan has been developed to open land borders between GCC countries. “There is a Gulf coordination approved this week by forming a team of specialists from the ministries of health to develop unified controls and frameworks for the movement of citizens and residents of the GCC Council, and the procedures will be unified within the next two weeks,” Al Abri added.
