MUSCAT: Muttrah Souq will remain closed as the authorities have no immediate plans to reopen, a top Ministry of Health official said.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Saif Al Abri, Director General of Disease Surveillance and Control at MOH said Al Wadi Al Kabir Industrial area and Al Hamriya will reopen on June 28 while the iconic Muttrah Souq will remain closed. “After reviewing the epidemiological situation in Wilayat Muttrah, it was decided to open Wadi Kabir industrial area, Al Hamriya as on June 28,” he said.
Shops in these areas can be opened from 6 am to 6 pm while remaining closed during the weekend.

“Souq Muttrah is a traditional market and it has not been decided to open yet,” Al Abri added.
