MUSCAT: Around 10,000 stranded Indians in Oman have been flown home to India since the coronavirus ‘Vande Bharat’ repatriation flight began on May 7, said a senior official at the Indian Embassy.
Over the last 40 days, the Indian government operated 40 special Air India and Air India Express flights, while various social organisations have used nearly 20 chartered flights to repatriate the citizens. “We are doing our best to serve the community, labourers and distressed people,” he said.
On Thursday, India repatriated 183 passengers from Muscat to Trivandrum. From June 19 to June 30, the embassy will be repatriating eight special flights, while around 15 charter flights are expected to take-off in the next 15 days.
