MUSCAT: Two pharmacies in Barka were slapped with heavy fines for taking advantage of the coronavirus pandemic and selling face masks at an exaggerated price.
The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) imposed an administrative fine of OMR 500 each against the two pharmacies after they were caught selling face masks at a higher price.
“These two pharmacies were selling face masks at a higher price than the price approved for them. They have charged a percentage of profit exceeding the percentage set by the Ministry of Health, which is in violation of Resolution No. 12/2011 and amended by Resolution 388/2015 related to raising the prices of goods and services,” PACP said in a statement on Monday.
