Muscat: India has so far operated 33 flights as part of its Vande Bharat Mission and repatriated nearly 6,000 stranded passengers from Oman.
179 passengers took the 33rd flight to Trivandrum on Friday. In the phase 2+ of the mission, 23 flights have been arranged to take the stranded nationals home. “We have a huge list in front of us and in the coming weeks, there will be more flights taking the stranded citizens to India,” said a senior official at the Indian Embassy.
Apart from the Vande Bharat Mission, many Indian social and cultural organisations are arranging charter flights. Popular Indian cultural organisation KMCC Muscat has so far repatriated around 700 passengers from Muscat in four charter flights from SalamAir. KMCC is also expected to have more flights in the coming days. Indian Cultural Forum (ICF) had repatriated 180 passengers last week using charter services of IndiGo airlines.
