MUSCAT:Financial services such as ATMs and online money transfer are operating safely without any disruptions, despite the temporary suspension of online payment gateway ‘OmanNet’, Central Bank of Oman confirmed on Sunday.

CBO on Thursday suspended the country’s online payment gateway service after it suffered a security breach that have affected users from making transactions online. However, CBO has clarified that ATMs, online transfer from one account to another account, and point of sale devices (POS) are working “efficiently and safely.”

OmanNet is a national debit card payment gateway infrastructure for e-commerce transactions. CBO said since the network is suspended, customers who wants to make e-commerce transactions, can use the option to “pay with credit or other cards” to make payments, if the option is available until the service is restored.

OmanNet was suspended after CBO said it found some “unauthorised attempts” to enter the portal and the issue is being investigated.

According to CBO, the following e-services are working safely:

*Pay with credit or other cards if the option is available.

*Automated withdrawal operations (ATM) from all banks operating in the Sultanate and with various bank cards.

*Payments via POS devices of various banks operating in the Sultanate.

*Transfer from one account to another in the same bank and between banks.

*Mobile Transfer Service.
