MUSCAT: Expat residents in Oman will not be asked to pay a single riyal for coronavirus treatment and tests, as the government will be responsible for that in a number of ways, the country’s Minister of Health said on Thursday.
Speaking to the media, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi has clarified that the Covid-19 treatment is free for all. “Residents will not be asked to pay one riyal for treatment and examination, the government will be responsible for that in a number of ways, whether from insurance companies or sponsors, or the government will treat them if the two options are not available,” he said.
The Arabian Stories on Sunday reported that health insurance companies in Oman have been asked to cover the cost of Covid-19 treatments of insured patients.

“We have seen many organizations that started to raise questions about the treatment of residents in the Sultanate. We advise them to take the information from official authorities and from the ambassadors of countries in the Sultanate. The Sultanate does not differentiate in treatment and examination between citizens and residents,” he added.
