MUSCAT: Ever since the new directive by the Supreme Committee that citizens and residents must wear face masks while in public, there is sudden upsurge in demands for masks. An administrative fine of OMR 20 will be imposed against those who violate the decisions.
But do we need to wear it while driving?
Wearing masks inside a vehicle depends on the following cases, according to the Government Communication Centre (GC):
- If the driver of the vehicle is alone, he is not required to wear it inside the vehicle, but he is required to wear it when he leaves the vehicle.
- If the driver of the vehicle is accompanied with family members inside the vehicle, everyone is not required to wear it, but if one of them gets out of the vehicle, he has to wear the mask.
- If there is a person/persons inside the vehicle with the driver and they are not members of the family living together, they must wear the masks inside the vehicle.
