MUSCAT: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday backed the decision of state governments to bring back stranded citizens living abroad including Oman.
In a meeting with chief ministers of all the states, Modi said Indians living overseas could return home as long as it does not “inconvenience them and their families are not under any risk.”
“The Prime Minister said that this has to be done keeping in mind the fact that they “don’t get inconvenienced and their families are not under any risk,” said Modi in a statement issued by Press Information Bureau.

However, no details have been issued on the procedure to bring the citizens back home. Kerala meanwhile, has started an online registration for NRIs, who wish to return to the state. So far more than 7,500 Kerala expats from Oman have registered.
