MUSCAT: As part of supporting the private sector in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, Supreme Committee has reduced the visa renewal fee for expat workers from OMR 301 to OMR 201 starting from today until the end of June 2020.
Supreme Committee also allowed employers to renew expired work permits for expats who are currently outside the country. The Committee also exempted the companies from fines while renewing the visa contract.
The Supreme Committee also advised private sector companies affected by the Covid-19 crisis to also negotiate with workers to reduce their wages provided they are given reduced working hours. Companies can also terminate expat staff by clearing all their dues.
