MUSCAT:All restaurants in Oman are exempted from paying tourist and municipal taxes until the end of August 2020, as the government on Thursday took a number of measures to reduce the coronavirus impact.
Currently restaurants are paying 5 per cent municipal tax and 4 per cent tourist tax. Commercial establishments in the country are also exempted from paying municipal fees until the end of August 2020.

The decision comes after the government took tough measures to combat coronavirus in the country that include shuttering shopping malls and banning restaurants from providing food within the facility.
Oman on Wednesday confirmed 39 cases of coronavirus cases of which 13 have recovered.
