Oman bans shisha in bid to combat coronavirus spread

The committee has also advised citizens and residents to avoid going to cinema halls and gatherings.

MUSCAT: Oman has banned serving the shisha at the coffeeshops to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

The decision was taken on Thursday by the Supreme Committee appointed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik after they held first meeting.

The committee has called for keeping the ban for a period of one month.

The committee has also advised citizens and residents to avoid going to cinema halls and gatherings.

The meeting headed by His Excellency Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidy, Minister of Interior has also taken several preventive measures.

Oman has so far reported 18 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country.
