MUSCAT: Ministry of Health on Wednesday held an emergency meeting with officials from pharmaceutical companies amid reports of scarce supply of face masks and hand sanitisers in the country.
Face masks and hand sanitisers are becoming must-have accessories after four cases of coronavirus were reported in the country. However, citizens and residents on Tuesday complained that most of the pharmacies have face masks and hand sanitisers sold out.

A source from a local pharmacy franchise said demand for surgical face masks and hand sanitisers “went through the roof”.

On Wednesday, Dr. Mohammed bin Hamdan Al Rubaie, Director General of Pharmacies and Drug Control held a meeting with top officials from pharmacies and ensured the continuous availability of face masks and hand sanitisers. Dr. Mohammed also urged pharmacies to sell them at appropriate prices.
