MUSCAT: The official 40-day mourning period following the passing of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur will conclude on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, according to an obituary statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court.

The Diwan of Royal Court had declared a 40-day mourning period which started on January 11, 2020. According to the statement, the national flag which was hoisted at half-mast during the mourning period must be raised high from Thursday, January 20, 2020. Oman declared an official mourning period of three days, with the flag flown at half-mast for next forty days. Work for both public and private sectors including schools and colleges were also suspended starting from January 12 till January 14, 2020. 

Last month, the Ministry of Tourism has issued a statement asking hotels across the country to refrain from holding concerts, arts or musical performances during the mourning period. His Majesty Sultan Qaboos passed away on January 10, 2020.
