MUSCAT: The Maha Shivaratri celebration which was scheduled to take place at Shiva temple in Muscat on February 21,2020, has been cancelled following the passing of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur, the management of Hindu Temple informed on Thursday.
Maha Shivaratri is a Hindu festival celebrated annually by Indians across the world.
“We notify temple devotees that Management of Hindu Temple deeply mourn the sad demise of our beloved leader Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, together with the Government and the people of Sultanate of Oman,” the statement from the temple said.

“In keeping with the tradition of the country and our own profound feelings there will be no celebration of Maha Shivaratri this year on Friday, 21st February 2020, at Muscat Temple,” the statement added.
