
Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has clarified that expatriates who are currently working as sales representative/sales promoter and purchase representative will not be able to renew their visas after its expiry.
On Sunday, as part of country’s Omanisation process, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower had issued a decision to stop issuing visas to sales representative/ sales promoter and purchase representative.
A senior official at the Ministry of Manpower also said that the expats will have to return to their homeland once their visas expires.
“The decision is very clear and understandable. After the visa expires, their (expats) work permits cannot be renewed. They should leave Oman once their visa expires as these two professions are now Omanised,” said a senior official at the Ministry of Manpower.
According to National Centre of Statistics and Information, of a total of 1,700,000 foreign workers are employed in the Sultanate.
