MUSCAT: Varaganoor, a small village located in Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, India is observing a three-day mourning, following the passing of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The village that is home to more than 3000 peope also cancelled the celebration of their famous regional festival Pongal.
“Interestingly, more than half the population of this village has been working in Zawawi Powertech Engineering LLC, Oman for many years and got benefited by His Majesty and his people,” said a statement from the team.

As a mark of respect, they also erected a hoarding with eulogies written on it. The board was set up by the family of Ramasubbu, who is working in Oman for the last 35 years.
“His Majesty is a wise and eminent ruler, helped in modernizing Oman and always keen on enriching the cultural and economical lives of the people. Under his rule, people from other nations also worked in solidarity and unity” said by Ramasubbu.
