MUSCAT: Oman’s Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has warned shops and commercial centers against tampering barcode labels on products that may mislead consumers.
As part of this, PACP will carry out an intensive inspections in all shops to ensure that the original barcode label on goods has not been tampered.
In a statement issued online, PACP said:“The Authority carries out intensive inspection campaigns on shops and commercial centers in the various governorates of the Sultanate from the point of view of the consumer’s right to obtain the correct information about the goods that he is buying.”

PACP added: “And to verify the presence of the original manufacturing barcode clearly without misleading or disguising to ensure the consumer’s freedom of choice.”
The PACP added that it would take the necessary legal measures against violators.
