Muscat: Twenty new schools are to open in Oman in the coming years, officials have revealed.
According to a report in Times of Oman, the Ministry of Education is working on building 20 schools to the tune of OMR33 million.
However, four of these schools have already been delivered and operated from the start of the nee academic year. “Seven more of the new school buildings will be delivered and operational by the beginning of the second semester of the academic year. As for the rest, they will be delivered once they are ready,” H.E Mustafa bin Ali bin Abdullatif, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs was quoted as saying in Times of Oman.

More than 630,000 students are studying in 1,166 public schools in the country this year. This year, there is an increase of 30,000 students compared to the previous year.
