MUSCAT : Oman on Friday strongly condemned a shooting at a church in Jordan’s Karak governorate that left several people dead and wounded, reaffirming its rejection of violence and attacks on places of worship.
In a statement carried by the Oman News Agency, the Sultanate expressed solidarity with Jordan and denounced acts that terrorise civilians.
The attack took place during a funeral at Hamoud Church. Jordan’s Public Security Directorate said six people were killed and 28 wounded, Reuters reported.

Oman said its condemnation reflected its firm position against all forms of violence, the targeting of religious sites and intimidation of innocent people.
Jordanian security forces deployed to the scene and pursued the attackers. State-owned Al-Mamlaka television reported that gunmen emerged from a vehicle and fired on mourners. No group immediately claimed responsibility, and authorities had not identified those responsible.
King Abdullah pledged a forceful response, saying the perpetrators would be punished “with an iron fist” and that the attack would not divide Jordanians.
