MUSCAT: Royal Oman Police will introduce online facility to process work visa in the coming months, according to a local English daily.
Quoting an official with the ROP’s eVisa project, the daily reported that currently five types of visas are available under the eVisa option.
“We recently launched a new email notification on visas granted which also includes the photo of the applicant. There will be similar enhancements and expansions before the end of the year but our focus at the moment is work visas,” the official said.

The official also said that the ROP staff at the Directorate General of Passport & Residence work 24×7 to ensure that visas are approved in a timely manner.
Most visas are approved within a day or less, but we urge visitors to apply one week in advance.
The official also said that Oman now receives applications from all around the world and in most cases visitors do not need to visit the embassies when applying.
“Recently we also modified the payment system for people using Oman-issued debit cards to conform to the Central Bank of Oman’s new regulations. This is needed before we start issuing work visas which are all applied from within Oman.”
“Some Sanad offices are already providing the eVisa facility and this service will be extended and used much more once the online facility is introduced,” he added.
