MUSCAT: The Ministry has issued a statement regarding the inspection campaigns that it had recently implemented to monitor road transport. It has categorically stated that the violation of land transport law does not include everyone who transports their acquaintances and/or friends, provided it is not done for a ‘financial reward’.
The statement comes days after the ministry registered over 2,000 illegal transport violations.
According to the Ministry, grievances can be submitted for these violations at the Land Transport Department in the Ministry’s main office or the road departments in the governorates within 15 days of its issuance.

The ministry explained that the inspection teams are keen to ensure that motorists do not violate the provisions of the executive regulations of the Land Transport Law, but will not issue violation notices without a thorough check. It stated that the inspection teams aim to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Land Transport Law and its executive regulations, in order to preserve the safety of land transport users and the rights of the parties to the land transport contract.
The inspection teams had monitored a number of violations, including a violation of the requirements for carrying out transport activities with regard to the transportation of goods and individuals.
Through these campaigns, the Ministry aims to regulate the land transport sector and open the way for companies and individuals to invest in this vital sector. The Ministry confirms the continuation of its inspection campaigns and calls on workers in the sector to adjust their conditions and to adhere to the requirements of the Land Transport Law and its regulations.
