MUSCAT – The Forbes Advisor, in its list of ‘Top 10 Strongest Currencies in The World In 2023’, has ranked Omani Rial as the third-strongest currency in the world, with 1 rial buying 2.60 dollars (or $1 equals 0.38 Omani rial).
The magazine listed the Kuwaiti dinar (KWD) as the strongest currency in the world – the dinar is equivalent to 3.26 dollars, with Bahraini dinar (BHD) as the second, and the Jordanian dinar (JOD) fourth, followed by the British pound (GBP) at fifth; it has tied currencies of the Cayman Islands Dollar (KYD), the Gibraltar pound (GIP), the Swiss franc (CHF), and the Euro (EUR), with the US dollar ranked tenth.
The Forbes Advisor noted that Oman sits between the United Arab Emirates and Yemen at the eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, and stated that ‘the Omani rial was introduced in the 1970s and is pegged to the dollar.’
The global platform said it identified the strongest currencies based on the amount of dollars needed to buy one unit of each currency.
