Bank Muscat partners with SME Development Authority to launch Al Wathbah Academy programme for entrepreneurs in Al Wusta

The program covers topics in various aspects of business and management, which will enable entrepreneurs to manage their businesses on a structured manner.

MUSCAT : Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, has partnered with SMEs Development Authority to launch the Al Wathbah Academy entrepreneurial training for Omani SMEs in Al Wusta. The Al Wathbah Academy programme, which is part of the bank’s CSR commitment to deliver long-term benefits to the nation, is being held in Duqm this year and will benefit 25 Omani entrepreneurs. In this context, the Authority recently signed an agreement with the bank to provide the programme for Omani entrepreneurs, who will get training certificates on successful completion of the programme as well as special consultancy sessions for SMEs. It was signed by Abdulaziz Said Al Raisi, Vice President of the SME Development Authority and Ibrahim Khamis Al Balushi, Senior Assistant General Manager – SME, Bank Muscat.

Speaking on the occasion, Ibrahim Khamis Al Balushi, Senior Assistant General Manager – SME, Bank Muscat, said: “We are pleased to partner with SMEs Development Authority to conduct this year’s Al Wathbah Academy programme in Duqm so as to take the fruits of world-class entrepreneurial training to Omani SMEs in Al Wusta. The Al Wathbah Academy, which was launched by the bank in 2014, reflects the bank’s commitment to sustainable development in Oman by strengthening the role of SMEs. The bank continues to implement plans to develop Omani entrepreneurship as part of its commitment to the development of the country. I wish all success to the participants in completing the programme.”

The Al Wathbah Academy is conducted by the bank in partnership with the Radiant Sail Foundation. The curriculum has been tailored to provide a practical, comprehensive business course on growing a business successfully with the course content based on the actual needs of small and medium business owners in Oman. The program covers topics in various aspects of business and management, which will enable entrepreneurs to manage their businesses on a structured manner.

Utilising global best practices and local case studies, experienced trainers will equip SME entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge and resources over a period of 4-8 months. The training programme will provide business owners the opportunity to set goals, analyse the market, and revise strategies to meet new trends. Over 170 entrepreneurs have graduated from the Al Wathbah SME Academy till date and are contributing to the Omani economy.
