Muscat: Muscat Municipality has clarified that it follows proper procedures before inspecting a house that violates residency regulations.

In a statement issued online on Thursday, Muscat Municipality said its officials carry-out due process before deciding to raid homes. This comes after the authorities raided a home in Al Hail North used illegally by expat workers.

“The Municipality would like to assure everyone that it constantly monitor the use of residential buildings and we start checking when we get a complaint from the concerned directorate informing of a violation. The municipality goes through proper procedure and permissions in order to raid a house,” the statement said.

Recently, Muscat Municipality in coordination with the Public Prosecution and the Royal Oman Police raided a house in Al Hail North that housed several expat workers without following proper documentation.

“Expat workers were living in six of the house’s chambers, which was considered a violation according to the law and municipal regulations,” the statement added.
