MUSCAT- A number of participants of the twentieth regular meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Women Organization, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, praised the role of Oman regarding the promotion and empowerment of Omani women in various developmental fields, including political, economic, and social.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, Prof. Dr. Fadia Kiwan, Director General of the Arab Women Organization, appreciated the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman in empowering Omani women in various fields. She further indicated that Oman’s basic law stipulates equality between the sexes (women and men), indicating that there is a cooperation between the Sultanate and the organization, represented in the exchange of experiences and knowledge between the two sides in various fields.
She further said: “The meeting dealt with the evaluation of the organization’s work and developments in the reality of Arab women and the eight programs it implements, namely: the economic, political, and legislative fields, the fields of education, culture, media, science and technology, environmental protection and natural disasters, in addition to security and safety related programs.”

She also pointed out the importance of protecting women from the phenomenon of violence and strengthening its mechanisms, and the need to secure learning opportunities, noting that the organization has three ambitions: that there be legislation that protects women and girls and that it is applied; that there is an increase in the percentage of women who work in the economic sector; that there be a wider percentage of women in responsible positions.
