767 candidates, including 43 women to contest Oman’s Majlis Al Shura elections

Muscat: A total of 767 candidates, including 43 women, will stand for the ninth session of Majils A’Shura elections.

The Supreme Committee for the Elections of the Shura Council Members announced the preliminary list of candidates on Sunday. Giving the educational background of the candidates, the committee revealed that out of the total, 32 candidates have doctorate degrees, 91 hold master’s degree, 249 bachelor’s, 74 higher education diploma and 321 general education diploma.

Additionally, the Ministry of Interior stated that the electronic voting machines will be supplied at all polling stations. The undersecretary in the Ministry of Interior and the chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Elections of the Shura Council Members, signed a contract for the design, supply and installation of the electronic voting system for the ninth term on Sunday.
