MUSCAT: Salalah Airport won two international awards with one being the best airport in the Middle East for providing top quality of services in the category of airports of less than two million passengers annually. The second award was for best airport in the Middle East in health procedures during the pandemic.
On Thursday, about the International Airport Awards for Quality of Services presented by the Airports Council International (ACI) for the experience of passengers at airports around the world in 2021.
Salim bin Awad Al Yafei, Executive Vice President of Salalah Airport, indicated that working in an environment similar to the conditions of the pandemic, gives indications of the ability of the work team, the authorities operating at the airport, and all strategic partners to deal with high professionalism with exceptional circumstances that may sometimes stand in the way of the work environment and response.

The rapid implementation of all variables in implementation of the strategic plans drawn by Oman’s airports, which came in line with the Oman Vision 2040 to consolidate the position of the Sultanate of Oman on the global travel map as an attractive environment for travellers.
Al Yafei praised the efforts of the Salalah Airport family from all its operating bodies to provide a distinguished service to all airport visitors and travellers to provide a superior customer experience despite the circumstances, which constituted an important turning point in enhancing services and continuing efforts to maintain these successes year after year.
The Airports Council International conducts an annual poll to evaluate the best airports in the world in terms of customer experience. Awards are given in light of this in appreciation of airports that have continued their commitment to customers during the pandemic.
Data was collected from more than 370,000 beneficiaries, and included 37 performance indicators for each airport. A total of 111 awards was awarded to 88 airports around the world, according to the annual survey for the year 2021. The award categories include the best airports by size (number of passengers per year) and the geographical area of the airports, as well as the best health measures by region.
