MUSCAT: His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Saeedi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, issued a ministerial decision authorising some employees of the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs with the status of judicial officers.
The first article of the decision stipulates authorising the occupants of the jobs at the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs as a judicial police force in applying the provisions of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law for lawyers, law firms and civil law firms.
The second article stipulates that this decision shall be published in the Official Gazette, and it shall come into force from the day following the date of its publication.

He notes that this decision was based on the Criminal Procedures Law issued by Royal Decree No. 99/97, the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law issued by Royal Decree No. 30/2016, and Royal Decree No. 88/2020 merging the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Legal Affairs into one ministry called the Ministry Justice and Legal Affairs, defining its terms of reference and approving its organisational structure, and to the Regulations for Oversight of Lawyers, Law Firms and Civil Law Firms on Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 20/2021.
