MUSCAT: World-renowned travel guide Lonely Planet has stated that the best time to visit Oman is from October to March, when the weather is ideal for activities including picnics and beach camping.
No matter when you go, the ‘Pearl of Arabia’ – as the guide describes the Sultanate – offers a lot of things to do and attractions to visit, from historical castles and forts to UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Al-Baleed Archaeological Park, according to a news report published on the website.
The peak tourist season in Oman coincides with pleasant temperatures ranging from around 15°C (60°F) to 30°C (85°F), and these months between October and March see little or no rain, making it an ideal time to enjoy outdoor events and festivals, such as the Muscat Festival in January, adventure lovers also have a great time taking road trips and going on long walks.

April is a great time to visit Jabal Al Akhdar and experience the season of blooming roses. Beachgoers will also be delighted with Oman’s beautiful sands, stressing that wildlife watchers should plan a trip to Ras Al Jinz Beach in September, when sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand.
It was pointed out that in the cold seasons, camel races are held all over Oman, and camel beauty pageants are also contested, while the Sultan Cup for camel racing is characterised by competitive races.
