MUSCAT: Starting from January 1, 2022, Muscat Municipality said it will re-introduce the municipal tax for hotel establishments, tourist restaurants, amusement centres and parks.
Following the COVID-19, the municipality had temporarily halted the tax until December 31, 2021, as part of the economic stimulus plan aimed at supporting the recovery efforts to mitigate the economic repercussion causes by the pandemic.
“With regard to the economic stimulus plan aimed at supporting the recovery efforts to mitigate the economic repercussions induced by Covid-19, which included an exemption from the municipal tax for hotel establishments, tourist restaurants, amusement centres and parks until the end of 2021, Muscat Municipality wishes to draw the attention of business owners that the tax on these activities and establishments will be returned from January 1, 2022,” Muscat Municipality said.
