MUSCAT: The Ministry of Social Development (MOSD) has prohibited hosting special events and celebrations to commemorate Oman’s 51st National Day in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In a statement issued, MOSD said gatherings may contribute to the rise in coronavirus cases.
“Based on the circular issued by the concerned authorities as a result of the global developments concerning the spread of Covid-19, and in order to preserve the stability of the epidemiological situation in the Sultanate and the safety of all people, it is forbidden to hold special events and celebrations on the occasion of the 51st National Day. Gatherings may contribute to an increase in the number of cases of Covid-19,” MOSD said.
