MUSCAT: Former Oman Football Association (OFA) chief Sayyid Khalid Al Busaidi said on Sunday he will stand to contest for the upcoming Oman Olympic Committee chairmanship election to be held in Muscat next month.
Sayyid Khalid said the decision was taken after consulting with his close friends in the sports fraternity. “After consulting with few of my brothers from the sports community, I have decided to run for the presidency of the Oman Olympic Committee. I am looking forward for the trust of the General Assemby,” he said.
The general assembly will be held on July 25 at the OOC headquarters where the new committee will be elected.

Speaking to The Arabian Stories, Saif Al Hosni, the acting chairman of OOC also confirmed the candidature of Sayyid Khalid.
Known as the man who professionalized football in the country, Sayyid Khalid was instrumental in putting Oman in the international sporting arena.
