MUSCAT: Dr Nutayla bint Said bin Amran Al Harthy has been appointed as the first Omani dean of Oman Dental College, the Board of Directors announced on Tuesday. Dr Al Harthy obtained both a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery (with commendation) and a PhD from the University of Glasgow.

Following completion of the United Kingdom’s National Health Certified Vocational training, which was part of the West of Scotland’s first two-years General Professional Training Program, Dr Al Harthy successfully obtained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery and a Fellowship of Dental Surgery both from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dr Al Harthy’s commitment to lifelong learning has also earned her certifications from different academic institutions such as the Harvard University where she currently holds a Faculty position, Stanford University School of Medicine, Northwestern University (Kellogg School of Management), and the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Dr Al Harthy had previously taught at the University of Glasgow, University of Dundee and the National University of Singapore before joining the Oman Dental College in 2012 as a Senior Lecturer. In 2018 she was promoted to Vice Dean Academic and Clinical Affairs..
