MUSCAT: Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has shut down a commercial establishment in Wilayat Barka for raising prices of foodstuffs ahead of cyclone Shaheen.
In a statement issued, CPA said the commercial establishment violated the consumer law, and took advantage of the current climatic conditions . “The commercial establishment raised the prices of foodstuffs, taking advantage of the climatic conditions experienced by the Sultanate,” CPA added. However, CPA did not reveal the name of the commercial establishment.
Oman is bracing for the impact of cyclone Shaheen, which is expected to hit the country’s coastline on Sunday morning.
