MUSCAT: Heavy rains continued to lash the Sultanate for the second day straight on Friday, creating mayhem across all governorates. Traffic was thrown out of gear, several roads were flooded, motorists are stranded for hours ahead of the 5 pm lockdown.

The heavy downpour turned several roads into ‘water ponds’. “I am still stuck in Al Khuwair road and there is a heavy traffic right now. I hope I will be able to make it home before the movement ban begins,” said Mathew Jacob, a Muscat resident.

The Civil Defence and Ambulances Authority (CDAA) urged motorists to be cautious while driving through the flooded roads.

Meanwhile, Oman Met has warned that thunderstorms will continue to flow in parts of the governorates of Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah and North Al Sharqiyah, and it may extend to include Al Dhahirah Governorate.
