Full-lockdown begins in Oman on July 20

While the holidays begins on July 18, the full closure will only be implemented on the first three days of Eid Al Adha, a top ROP official confirmed to The Arabian Stories.

MUSCAT: With Oman announcing the first day of Eid Al Adha, the three-day full-lockdown will start on July 20, a top official at Royal Oman Police (ROP) informed The Arabian Stories (TAS).

While the holidays will begin on July 18, the full closure will only be implemented on the first three days of Eid Al Adha (July 20 to 22), the official confirmed.

During the full-lockdown period, all individual movements will be prohibited including complete closure of commercial activities. “However emergencies and humanitarian cases will be considered during the closure”, the official said.

“We are currently preparing to implement the new measures issued by the Supreme Committee. Starting from July 16, the new evening lockdown timings will be from 5pm to 4am until July 31,” he explained. “However, the full lockdown will be from July 20 to 22 which is the first three days of Eid Al Adha,” he said.

According to the official, checkpoints will be activated across all governorates of the Sultanate. With the cooperation of major government institutions, ROP will also open an operations center to ensure the availability basic services and to facilitate the emergency movement of people which will help during the full-lockdown period.
