MUSCAT: Coronavirus in Oman is rapidly sliding into a devastating crisis, with hospitals unbearably full, death cases rising at an all time high, and we are now seeing an average of 2,000 new infections being reported daily.
In the last one week, 222 people died, the highest ever mortality figure recorded in the country, while 464 people are still in intensive care fighting for their life. The most pertinent question is: where are we heading to?
“The government is doing its best in terms of managing the crisis. The responsibility is on us to take care of our lives. Vaccination is the only way we can reduce the cases and MOH has strengthened the campaigns already,” said an official at Ministry of Health.

The total coronavirus cases touched 256,252, while 2,848 people have died so far.
Our health sector is facing an “unprecedented crisis”, while His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Oman’s Minister of Health said the “situation is alarming.”
“The health sector has reached a critical and very, very dangerous situation,” he said during the Supreme Committee press conference.
Meanwhile, Al Saidi also said night lockdown that is currently imposed in the Sultanate will help in reducing the cases. “Partial lockdown is feasible. During the month of Ramadan, when the cases were very high in Dhofar, we decided to close it in the evening and within two weeks the cases decreased,” the Minister added.–
