MUSCAT: A total of 48 commercial activities were fined in the last seven days for violating the Supreme Committee decisions, as authorities have intensified inspection campaigns across the country in the wake of rising coronavirus cases.
The violations, found during inspections conducted were mostly related to physical distancing and allowing more than 50 per cent of prescribed capacity in commercial facilities.
Addressing the press conference, Mubarak Mohammed Al Duhani, Director General of Trade at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said: “We have received explicit directives from the Supreme Committee to form a technical team represented by the Royal Oman Police, the Ministry of Interior and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. This team monitors the extent to which commercial establishments comply with the decisions of the Supreme Committee.

“Many establishments are committed to all precautionary procedures and requirements, but we call on all commercial establishments to adhere to the announced procedures and precautionary requirements in order to avoid total closure,” he added.
