We cannot close the airport, says Oman official

The primary objective of operating aircraft to India is to transport passengers from Oman.

MUSCAT: Oman will not close the airport despite spike in coronavirus cases, a top official has informed.

Addressing the Supreme Committee press conference, His Excellency Salim Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said the primary operating aircraft to India is to transport passengers from Oman.

Responding to a question regarding flights operating from India despite the travel ban, Al Nuaimi said. “Some of the excluded categories for those coming from India are Omani citizens, medical staff and shipment. We cannot close the airport. The primary objective of operating aircraft to India is to transport passengers from Oman,” he added.
