MUSCAT: Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has closed Chedi Muscat hotel for an “approved time period” for failing to adhere to the COVID-19 preventive measures.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry said the decision to close the hotel was taken after multiple cases of coronavirus infections were reported.

“The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism announced the closure of The Chedi Muscat for an approved time period, in addition to applying the applicable penalties, after coronavirus cases were confirmed as a result of non-compliance with the implementation of the preventive measures,” Ministry said in a statement.

“Tourist and hotel establishments and travel and tourism offices must ensure the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Committee for the safety of the customers,” Ministry added.
