MUSCAT: Oman plans to administer 250,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine weekly, as the country prepares to contain the spread of the virus.
Dr Bader Al Rawahi, director of Department of Infectious Diseases Control in the Ministry of Health said 415,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech have arrived this month. “We will complete immunising 30 per cent of Oman’s population before the end of July 2021 by administering 250,000 doses weekly considering 1.25 million doses are expected this month,” he pointed out.
According to Al Rawahi, 5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines will arrive by October. Meanwhile, MOH said 9.3% of the population have been vaccinated from December 27, 2020, until June 7, 2021.
