MUSCAT: 33 per cent of Omani women are diagnosed with breast cancer in late stages despite awareness about the disease, according to a study.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the country representing 12.8 per cent of all cancers.
The study conducted from November 2018 to April 2019 at the National Center for Cancer Treatment at the Royal Hospital and the Cancer Diseases Unit of Sultan Qaboos University Hospital states that despite proper awareness about the higher chances of recover in the event of early diagnosis, a majority of women fail to take proper treatment.
