MUSCAT: Oman is aiming to attract investments worth OMR 3 billion in the tourism sector within the next three years, Minister said on Sunday.

Addressing the Shura Council, His Excellency Salem Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism said the government is also looking at attracting foreign investments and developing legislation to regulate the sector. “The Ministry aims to attract total investments worth OMR 3 billion during the next three years within the program of attracting investments and developing exports, which emanates from the priorities of Oman 2040 Vision,” he said.

As part of promoting tourism, the Minister the government is planning to target international or regional conferences, exhibitions and focus on setting up representative offices outside the country.

“There is a plan to promote foreign tourism, develop the tourism development process, and provide services to foreign visitors,” Al Mahouqi added.
