MUSCAT: Institutional quarantine is mandatory for expat families arriving in Oman starting from May 11, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said on Sunday.
In a new circular issued to all airlines operating into the country, CAA said all expatriates including families with children under the age of 18 need to go into quarantine effective from 6pm on May 11.
“Institutional quarantine applies to all non-Omani arrivals into the Sultanate, including families with children under the age of 18, with effect from 18:00 hrs local Oman time on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.” CAA informed.

Earlier, CAA had relaxed rules for expat families who were send to 7-day home quarantine. Now this rule has been revised with mandatory hotel quarantine.
However, Omani citizens are excluded from institutional quarantine based on the previous decision. “The home quarantine for Omani citizens and other categories under previous circulars will continue to be in place, taking into consideration that excluded categories will be subject to approved procedures upon arriving in the Sultanate,” CAA added.
