MUSCAT: The Supreme Committee has ordered the public not to hold Eid prayers and traditional Eid souqs (Habta) in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases in the country.
The committee also banned gatherings of any kind including “family gatherings or mass celebrations of the Eid. The committee also said gathering in beaches and parks during Eid Al Fitr holidays is not allowed.
Ahead of Eid Al Fitr holidays, the committee also took stringent measures including closing all commercial activities throughout the day, starting from May 8 until May 15 with the exception of food stores, fuel stations, health centres, home delivery service of all goods. The committee also extended the night movement ban between 7pm to 4am from Saturday, May 8 until May 15. Oman on Sunday registered more than 2,500 cases including 33 deaths, while over 100 patients have been admitted in hospitals in 24 hours.
