MUSCAT: With only eight days to go for the exit scheme announced by the Oman government to end, over 65,000 expatriates have registered to leave the country permanently, the Ministry of Labour said on Tuesday.

The Ministry said among the total 65,173 applicants, 46,355 people have already taken the benefit of the scheme and left the country. In November last year, the Ministry announced the exit scheme for those expatriates with expired work permits to leave the country permanently without paying any fines or fees. The scheme ends on March 31.

“The Ministry confirms that the exit scheme ends on March 31, and requests received after this date will not be considered,” Ministry added.
