MUSCAT: Oman’s Ministry of Labour on Tuesday said it is mandatory for citizens working in the private sector to register their work contracts in order to protect the rights and duties of the employee and the employer.
In a statement issued, the Ministry said some job applicants in the private sector are refraining from registering employment contracts due to the fear of losing public sector job opportunities. However, the Ministry said public sector jobs are open for all. “Public sector job opportunities are open to all Omani workers including those in the private sector,” Ministry of Labour said.

“It is important to register work contracts in order to protect the rights and duties of the employee and the employer. The number of years in service are counted in the workforce registry and it will be added as a practical experience that gives presence to competing for better opportunities,” the Ministry added.
