MUSCAT: In line with the bank’s commitment to community development and promoting Oman as a sporting nation, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, inaugurated two more new sports fields in South A’Sharqiyah as part of its flagship Green Sports programme. The opening of the Shabab Al Wafi Team’s sports field in the Wilayat of Al Kamil Wa Al Wafi was held in the presence of Hamad bin Sultan Al Hashimi, Deputy Chairman of the team. The opening of the Falaj Al Mashayekh Sports Team’s field was done in the presence of Rashid bin Nasser Al-Mashaikhi, the honorary Vice Chairman of the team. Salim Bin Rashid Al Shidi, Regional Manager – South A’Sharqiyah, Bank Muscat, represented the bank and handed over the certificates of completion to both the teams at the respective events, which were organised in compliance with social distancing norms.
On the occasion, Salim Bin Rashid Al Shidi, Regional Manager – South A’Sharqiyah, Bank Muscat, said that the bank’s flagship Green Sports programme has been going from strength to strength over the years with bank helping develop Green Sports fields for teams across different governorates in the Sultanate. He congratulated both the teams and asked members to make the best use of the new facilities so as to develop their skills and talents to the maximum possible.
The total number of teams, which have benefitted from the programme until the end of last year has now reached 123, confirming the great success of the programme. There is no doubt that it has been greatly contributing to further build Omani sporting talent. The programme is providing an excellent means to channelise the energy and talents of Omani youth in a productive way, besides helping local communities develop stronger bonds.

The scope of support under the Green Sports programme included installation of artificial turf or natural grass on sports fields, floodlighting and water-desalination systems. Bank Muscat continues to invest strongly in sustainability and corporate social responsibility programmes across the country. Its longest running CSR programme will continue to support and serve the community as it implements the bank’s vision of “serving you better, every day”. The registration process for 2021 was done recently and saw excellent participation by many teams from different governorates. The applications are currently being evaluated and the announcement of the beneficiaries for 2021 will be made later this year.
