MUSCAT : The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has warned customers never to share their personal
information to any source or entity over phone or through social media.

In a statement issued, CBO said “all licensed banks operating in the Sultanate or exchange companies do not request any banking information such as the password, the bank card number, or the account number, by calling or through various social media or by sending text messages requesting direct access through specific links.”

The apex bank also advised customers who are exposed to such messages to “inform the competent authorities represented by the Royal Oman Police or the banks operating in the Sultanate.”
